Harman St. Extension

The Bushwick Collective continues its expansion with the Harman St. mural row. It is as always an international crowd with newcomer to Bushwick Heesco from Mongolia and his collab with Damien Mitchell. Intro and Col Wallnuts do their distinctive conceptual graffiti styles contrasting next to Zimad and Fumero’s portraits. Put these murals all in one place and you get one hell of a block.

Heesco and Damien are old friends so when Heesco visited NY he was staying with Damien and they came up with this collaboration paying tribute to the history of Mongolia and its heritage.

Eelco Virus originally Dutch was in NY for a week this winter and came up with some of the dopest murals we have seen yet. His use of color creates a whimsical feel in his animal mazes. Mr. Van den Berg has a truly unique approach in this collaboration with Rocko.

As a futuristic extension of the text based graffiti of the 80’s Col Walnuts brings us this incredible “tag”. His play with color and form is second to none. It is a set of visual planes when combined create the base of an object. This work focuses are attention to detail.

Zimad is an OG (original gangster) doing graffiti now for over 20 years. Representing the Bronx, he is strong when it comes to the history of the Graff game. In a tangent from his traditional lettering, he leaves this Basquiat character. Jean Michael is one of the first “street” artists leaving his SAMO tag around town. Fast forwarded to today his crown symbol is a staple of the writers today. What a beautiful tribute.

Fumero’s self described graffstract expressionism creates his unique brand. His family portraits have been portrayed in wheatpaste form above the highland as well as all over Manhattan and New Jersey where he is an art teacher.

See One’s shards have gained him much respect in the scene. The sharp objects reflect this artist’s layered past. See One has been exhibiting for years and can now be seen at the SoHo Contemporary gallery. Also check out his new work portraying Lebron James.
